WineCellar

One June 13th, The Wine Cellar on Main welcomed WGIRLS Coastal LI with open arms and served as a host for our Forget-Me-Not Wine Slam–the first of a series of fundraising efforts to benefit children who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.

What a successful night it was.  Friends, family, and loving strangers joined us for a glass of wine, craft beer, live music and tapas.  Thanks to the generous support of all, WGIRLS Coastal LI was able to raise over $1,500.

Proceeds benefitted Stuff-a-Backpack, a local program providing school supplies and new backpacks to elementary & middle school students in need.  Our Wine Slam success enabled us to give the gift of education, with the added confidence he or she needs to be successful in school, to children in Far Rockaway who were still living in temporary housing as their homes were being rebuilt.

Helping us put together an amazing evening, acoustic guitarist Patrice Mullin showed all a fabulous time as she voluntarily entertained guests for hours.  Also supporting our cause, the very talented Mike Simckowitz, photographer and cinematographer, offered his time to WGIRLS Coastal LI to capture this beautiful night.

As WGIRL Coastal LI member Michelle puts it, “Nothing is better than wine for a good cause!”

Looking forward, giving back!
